Wellness Exams

One human year is approximately 7 years in a cat's life. This is the reason why we encourage annual exams for all of our patients and semi-annual exams for those cats that have stepped over the ten year mark. The veterinarian will perform a thorough whisker to tail exam, checking their eyes, ear, teeth, heart, lungs, and feeling the abdomen for any noticeable abnormalities.

Vaccinations

We also provide lifestyle appropriate vaccinations, following the guidelines set forth by the American Association of Feline Practitioners. We only use PureVax (non-adjuvanted) vaccines - the safest option for your cat.

It is always the recommendation of this hospital to keep all Rabies vaccinations up to date for every pet in the house, as it is a incurable multi-species (or zoonotic) disease, which affects ALL mammals (humans included). It is currently available in 1- or 3-year doses.

For indoor only cats, the upper respiratory vaccine or FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) is also recommended by the AAFP. The first booster after the kitten series last for 1 year, then extends to 3 year intervals for the following boosters. And for cat's who love to venture outdoors, the annual FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) vaccine is also recommended. This is especially needed for the cat that is very territorial and may get into a fight or two with another cat.

Others

We also provide lifestyle appropriate viral testing, deworming, microchipping, nail trimmings and flea and heartworm control.
